Brains For Sale at Agitprop Art Space

David White has a new approach to what an art gallery can be with his hidden, dynamic artspace, Agitprop

Luis de Jesus turned me on to the activities there last year and I have been intrigued by this rarely open, unassuming space behind Glenn's Market in North Park ever since.

I didn't fully grasp what I was missing out on until I heard David speak at the PechaKucha night in Little Italy last week.  PechaKucha night is a monthly must-attend event for all of you design enthusiasts out there.   David's presentation stood out from the others that night, just as his artspace concept does when compared to traditional galleries.

The two highlights were his Brain Trust series, where gallery participants are asked to take stock in the gallery and spread the message to friends by acquiring a brain sculpture and displaying it as a work of art home.   I'm going to grab one.  You should too.

Next, he told us how he partnered with 'Art as Authority' for his 'Art Tapout' series, which played with a UFC cage fighting theme. Artists faced off against an art critic and the public in a live show to the death (just kidding).

Ambitious, intelligent ventures like Agitprop are an undeniably positive force in the San Diego creative scene.   Don't be a numbskull, purchase a brain block and display it with pride.
