HIGHBROW - the Q+A sessions after the screenings give great insite into the artform. LOWBROW - free drinks, hot chicks.
HIGHBROW - if you like to dig into the artform like I do, there is no better way to experience film than at a festival like SDFF. Why? Because of the Q+A sessions after the screenings. Last night, the opening film
Like Dandelion Dust provided a great example. This tearjerker drama yanks on your heart strings right out of the gate. But for me, the real drama comes after the show. It must take incredible confidence to spend 3 years of your life on a project, share it with 400 strangers for 1.5 hours and then listen to them dissect your work in front of your face. I was impressed by the performances both on-screen and in-person.
LOWBROW - this festival has great energy, fresh good-looking faces from LA and beyond, and an affordable price tag. Yesterday's all day ticket cost only $20! It included an exclusive peek at a great movie as well as a private after party with hosted Patron cocktails at the Se Hotel. You know the Se is tres chic...premium drinks are typically $10 or more at this spot. You do the math. There are many more great films and parties this week so go
here and then get there.
