Kensington is one of the cutest neighborhoods in San Diego and sometime soon, I’d like for you to go there on a date. It’s perfect because you can do dinner, a movie and a cocktail all on the same block! If you need a little help with an itinerary, try this:
Start out at The Kensington Grill, a little place on Adams Ave. with a menu full of great California cuisine including small plates, sandwiches and sides. They also have a great happy hour so start here for a drink, dinner or a snack before a movie at...
Ken Cinema (The Ken) was built in 1946 and I don’t think it has changed much since then. Every time I go there I think for a second I might be there to see a Grace Kelly movie. It is operated by Landmark Cinemas so if you like independent or foreign films you will like the Ken. They also have midnight movies! Including Spice World apparently.
Now you’ve done dinner, you’ve done a movie, and things are still going well? Two doors down is the Ken Club, a dive bar with some strong drinks and live music. What could be better?
If you’re not ready to go home yet, (or the music is too loud) take a nice stroll down Adams Ave. past the Kensington library and a little park and you’ll find the Kensington Cafe where you can buy your date a cup of coffee and tell him or her your life story. They’re not open too late but don’t worry, they serve breakfast...
See? Perfect summer date night. Let me know how it goes.
