Morgan, our Urban Dish columnist, is on vacation and so we're asking you, our readers, to dish about some of your favorite things. Two things, specifically: Sandwiches and Bloody Marys.
Where do you get the best sandwiches in urban San Diego? And what bar or restaurant in town makes your favorite Bloody Mary – or Bloody variation?
I asked Morgan what her favorites are, and her picks are Hillcrest's
Hash House A Go Go's huge Bloody Mary – which comes with a mini BLT – and Golden Hill's
Krakatoa for sandwiches. She also pointed out that beyond San Diego's urban core,
Chris' Liquor & Deli in Ocean Beach makes an amazing deli sandwich.

GOOD has designated September 26th through the 30th their official Sandwich Week, and this morning on their blog and
Facebook they asked readers to design "
the ultimate American sandwich." If any of our readers makes an amazing sandwich, here's your chance to bring San Diego to GOOD's attention!
Thrillist also graced my inbox this morning with an email about Absolut's search for
America's Best Bloody. I assumed that meant we could nominate our favorites, but you actually click on your state and vote for one of the listed recipes, without ever tasting the bartender's concoction. They don't mention the establishment or the city unless it's part of the recipe's name, which is super disappointing.
So, my inbox combined with the arrival of lunchtime has me wondering what your picks are. As for me, I've just decided to head to a cute little cafe in Golden Hill for a Taos.
**Update** Nate just weighed in and this sandwich is too awesome to not mention here: "My new food obsession is the seared ahi sandwich at
Neighborhood, with fried egg (runny yolk!), plenty of avocado and for that bit of crunch, potato chips! (Inside the sandwich, like when you were six years old!) Creativity, novelty and sandwich wizardry at it's finest!!!
