Join SDAF and The Pearl Hotel for amazing food, beverages and friends as we screen "Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision."
The film, winner of 1994’s Best Documentary Feature, profiles the young artist who created the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC., the controversy that arose when it was announced that the winning design was submitted by a young Chinese-American woman, and her other politically motivated creations, including the Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama. It also chronicles her maturation from a very young, enthusiastic 20-year old artist who, just for a lark, submitted her winning entry in the national contest for would-be designers of the monument, to a mature and articulate artist.
Film starts at 8:00.
The Pearl's 3-4-5 Happy Hour starts at 5:00: $3 beer, $4 well drinks and $5 wines!
